Petanque Under Shady Trees Puzzle and Coloring Page
This page belongs to Court, Table & Target Games, a complete 30-page build, color, and frame collection.
About This Jigsaw Puzzle
A group of players gather in the dappled shade of broad green trees, casually tossing blue and purple metal boules across a sandy sandy ground. The atmosphere is relaxed and sociable, with players studying the angles and distances between the boules. Colorful clothing and soft afternoon light give the scene a quintessentially French outdoor feel.
Coloring Tips
Fill the sandy ground with warm tan and mix in a light ochre using the brush for texture variation. Paint the boules in deep blue and grape purple, then add a tiny white reflection highlight on each ball with the spray tool to make the metal shine.
Common Questions
What is the difference between petanque and bocce ball?
Both games involve tossing balls toward a small target ball, but petanque is played with metal boules on gravel or sand and requires players to keep their feet together inside a small circle when throwing. Bocce uses wooden or plastic balls and has a larger rolling style.
How do you win a game of petanque?
The first team or player to reach 13 points wins. Points are scored by having boules closer to the small target ball, called the jack or cochonnet, than the opposing team's closest boule. Strategy involves both placing and knocking away opponents' balls.
How do I paint the metal boules to make them look realistic?
Apply a solid deep blue or purple base with the fill tool, then use the brush to add a slightly lighter mid-tone arc on the upper surface. A single tiny white dot from the spray tool mimics the reflected light spot typical of polished metal.
