About This Jigsaw Puzzle

A luge athlete lies flat and aerodynamic on their sled as it carves through a sharp banked curve on a white ice track. Dark green pine trees press close on either side while snow covers every surface in clean white. A light blue sky peeks above the treeline, and the athlete's yellow helmet provides the only warm color in this cold winter landscape.

Coloring Tips

Fill the snow and ice surfaces with bright white and pale blue to distinguish packed snow from smooth ice. Paint the pine trees in deep dark green and use yellow for the athlete's helmet to create a bright focal point against the cool palette. The spray tool can add a misty white blur at the track's edge.

Common Questions

What is the difference between luge, bobsled, and skeleton?

In luge, athletes ride a small sled face-up and feet-first. Skeleton riders lie face-down and head-first on a flat sled. Bobsled is a team event with a larger aerodynamic sled holding two or four athletes. All three race on the same type of refrigerated ice track.

How fast do luge athletes travel?

Luge is one of the fastest sliding sports, with athletes reaching speeds of 140 km/h (87 mph) or more on elite tracks. The Whistler Sliding Centre in Canada is known as one of the fastest tracks in the world.

How should I handle the icy track curve in this luge puzzle?

Use white for the main snow areas and a pale icy blue for the banked ice track surface. The curve wall is polished ice so a slightly glossy light blue with white highlights using the brush tool captures its texture well.
